How to Draw A Puppy

Step 1

To begin this guide on how to draw a puppy, let’s start with your puppy’s face. Using the reference image, carefully draw a line using some curved lines.

The top of the head should be round with a significantly longer curve to the right. Once you’re happy with how this step looks, you can move on to step 2.

Step 2

Now that you’ve started drawing your pup’s head let’s add an ear to your pup.

This pup has pig-like floppy ears that fold back. This ear on our left flips completely back, so you can’t see the inner ear of this ear. This is created with another very curvy line that folds back on itself.

Step 3

In the next step, we will add the other ear. This one is also folded back, and through the angle of this ear, you can see a small part of the inner ear.

You can use the reference image from our guide to add another line that will curve back on itself similarly to the previous one.

Step 4

The head and ears are ready at this stage of our how-to-draw puppy guide. Now let’s add a cute face to your pup. There are certain elements on the face, so let’s go step by step.

We’ll start with the eyes and make them extra big and round for a cuter look. They consist of some very curved lines for the outline, inside of which are circles.

Referencing the reference image will be very helpful in making them look like the example. Above that, they have short, curved lines that look like cute lashes to them.

If you want, you can also use some simpler circles with dots for a less detailed look!

After drawing the eyes, you can draw a cute little nose. The mouth underneath will be very arched, with the mouth and tongue open. When you’re done with the face, it’s time for step 6!

Step 5

For step 5 of this How to Draw a Puppy, we will use another curvy line going down from the head to shape your puppy’s back.

Then you can draw a small but curved tail to show your cute puppy is happy!

Step 6

Your puppy’s drawing shows him sitting comfortably on the floor. In this step, we will show him sitting by drawing some legs for him.

The front legs are much more extended and stretched, one coming under the head and the other off the chest.

Then you can draw cute paws at the end of them as they appear in the picture.

The hind leg will be much more rounded to show the puppy is sitting comfortably.
