China has become a new superpower in the last ten years, competing with the West in a variety of disciplines. As the two nations with the most people in the world, China and Pakistan, they have many things in common. Since 2013, Pakistani students have been more and more interested in studying medicine in China.

Chinese Universities of Medicine Medical School Fee
Up till 2018, more than 214 medical universities welcomed students into their MBBS and TCM programs in both English and Mandarin. Numerous Pakistani agents tried to get students into the TCM program rather than the MBBS program. The Chinese government only allowed foreigners to enroll in MBBS programs and PMC programs in 2019 that were taught in English. A list of 45 medical schools in China that provide MBBS programs with English instruction has been published.
Additionally, the total number of MBBS Seats in these PMC Approved Universities (45) is close to 1100 for international students including Pakistani students.

Obstacles to MBBS Study in China
Despite the many benefits of pursuing an MBBS in China, there are several difficulties that Pakistani students must overcome when enrolled in school there.
Some of these difficulties are listed below:
Because there are so few people who can speak English in China, communication in everyday public life is a big problem.
Due to its proximity to the sea, the Chinese mainland is reliant on seafood. Because of this, their eating habits are different from Pakistani eating customs, making it difficult to obtain vegetarian cuisine.
Different social networking sites, online browsers, and messaging services are owned by China. As a result, getting acquainted with them requires time.
Is an MBBS Study in China a viable choice for students from Pakistan?
Even if we weigh the benefits and drawbacks of completing an MBBS in China, it would still be a better option than other nations with comparable budgets. The student should keep in mind that they only need to stay in China for six years; yet, the language barrier and culinary issues are universal. However, the decision to attend one of China’s medical universities may ultimately prove to be advantageous for the students.

Pakistani cuisine and hostel lodging in China
For its students, almost all universities offer on-campus housing.
Many universities have separate dorms for boys and girls, but few also have common areas with distinct floors.
Hostel residents are expected to prepare their own meals because there are no mess facilities available.
Every hostel has a communal kitchen where guests can make meals.
There are washing machines in the Common Laundry facilities. They are free for students to use and benefit from.
All of the hostels are monitored by CCTV, and a warden or caretaker is present at all times.
Qualifications for MBBS in China
MDCAT Qualified students are required.
The MDCAT requirements may vary between universities.
The standard is usually 60% or more in 10+2 Grades (or much higher in top-ranked Universities).
The minimum age should be 17 years old.
Most universities interview or administer an online exam to candidates.
China’s MBBS Admission Procedure
Prior to 2019 (pre-COVID-19), there were typically over 10 applications for each available seat in Chinese colleges due to their high demand. Chinese institutions were more selective, while the majority of foreign universities merely required an MDCAT qualification and a 50% grade point average in the 12th grade. To ensure that only the top applicants are accepted, they impose higher MDCAT scores and grade standards. Start the application procedure early if you’re thinking of studying for your MBBS in China; otherwise, you can end yourself at a school with a worse reputation. Here is the optimal application period for MBBS programs at Chinese universities.

Medical PG Option after MBBS in China
Medical PG in Pakistan or PMDC
During MBBS study, a student realizes the importance of being a specialist. They also understand the competitiveness to secure MD/MS Seat in Govt College. If we look at the success ratio to get PG in Govt Medical College which is 11% Broadly we can say that only 1 out of 10 will get PG Seat whereas the chances of getting Clinical specialty is 1 out of 20 applicants. It is obvious that the PG journey is going to be very difficult or else students should have enough money to get the paid seat in Pvt Medical College which may be in Crores!

Do you believe that the correct mentorship and early preparation will help you achieve your goal of becoming a specialist? The PMC has previously announced that the PMDC Exam will be offered in Pakistan starting in 2023. All PG Medical exams in Pakistan will be replaced by one test. There will be two sections to the exam: PMDC-1 and PMDC-2.
The PMDC-1’s goal is to evaluate the student’s knowledge of pre-clinical, pre-clinical, and clinical subjects on a national level. Only medical students who have qualified for PMDC-1 will be permitted to intern. Following their internship, students must take PMDC-2, which evaluates their clinical abilities, patient management, and medical record-keeping. Those who pass PMDC-2 are given a license to practice, and PMDC-1 rankers are given their choice of PG seats. For more information on the PMDC Exam Medical PG in the USA (USMLE), please see Page.
The majority of Chinese students who study also intend to pursue a medical postgraduate degree in the USA. This is due to how difficult it is to obtain PG seats in Pakistan.
Since PMDC was introduced, the majority of students in Pakistan are being drawn to USMLE preparation beginning in their first year of medical school since it effectively mimics the new PMC Competency-based curriculum. The US healthcare system is regarded as one of the greatest in the world for a variety of reasons, including high salaries, first-rate facilities, merit-based hiring, and opportunities for Super specialties. For its medical graduates, the majority of nations strive to imitate the US health care assessment system. The USMLE exam has three sections. After the second year, one can take the USMLE Step 1 exam, the Step 2 CK exam during an internship, and the Step 3 exam during a residency (Medical PG). Unfortunately, Georgia lacks a Prometric center. However, all of the nearby nations have these facilities.
Medical Postgraduate in the USA (USMLE) MOKSH Coaching emphasizes a patient-centered learning method that aids students in achieving excellent USMLE and PMDC scores. The most well-known brand for USMLE coaching is MOKSH. 1000+ students from Pakistani and international medical schools are currently using the MOKSH Platform to get ready for the USMLE stages.
UK Medical PG (PLAB)
Many of the students intend to pursue their medical postgraduate degree from the UK due to the country’s proximity to China. The PLAB test, administered by the Professional & Linguistic Assessments Board, will be used until 2024 to evaluate the knowledge and skills of international medical graduates. Additionally, it determines if they are qualified to receive medical training in the UK.
In essence, an IMG’s PLAB performance determines whether she is qualified to practice in the UK. Two stages make up the PLAB test. Exam PLAB 1 measures your recall with 180 multiple-choice questions. The PLAB 2 is an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Exam) that puts your clinical knowledge to the test.
The GMC evaluates your performance on particular examinations to determine your level of language proficiency. It can be the OET (Grade B in reading, writing, hearing, and speaking) or the IELTS (Band Score 7.0 or better).
After passing PLAB 1 and 2, you submit an application for GP registration. There is a restriction. After passing PLAB 2, you have a 2-year window in which to submit your application.
The UK Medical Licensing Assessment will take the place of the PLAB by 2024. As a result, the GMC UK will modify several aspects of PLAB and introduce the UKMLA exam.
Germany’s medical PG
Germany
Another fantastic alternative after an MBBS in Pakistan is to pursue a postgraduate degree in Germany, however, this entails learning the language. You must pass Levels A1 and A2 of the six levels (A1 to C2) in order to be eligible to apply for a visa.
After completing the language formalities, you move on to the phase where you conduct an observational study at a German hospital that has been approved by the German Medical Council. The PMDC item is residency.
Although it sounds easy above, the method is actually pretty difficult. After completing your MBBS in Pakistan, learn more about PG in Germany by
Chances of Securing an MBBS Seat in Pakistan
Waiting after MDCAT until the counseling procedure to find out if they will be admitted to the college of their choice is the most challenging period for any student. Sometimes, many rounds of counseling cause this problem to last for a few months. Due to COVID-19, simultaneous counseling for the All Pakistan Quota and multiple States has made it more challenging. There are 83000+ seats available in 550+ public and private universities, and the counseling process is extremely complicated. The fee ranges for the course range from less than 1 Lac to 2.5 Cr.
